On alcohol abuse

Who hath woe?  Who hath sorrow?  Who hath contentions?  Who hath babbling?  Who hath wounds without cause?  Who hath redness of eyes?

They that tarry long at the wine;  they that go to seek mixed wine.

Look not thou upon the wine when it is red, when it giveth his colour in the cup, when it moveth itself aright.

At the last it biteth like a serpent, and stingeth like an adder.

Pray that you may speak with dignity

How precious is peace?

"Better is a dry morsel, and quietness therewith, than an house full of sacrifices with strife".  Proverbs 17v1

 

If you are a child of God, expect to be disciplined!

"My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord;  neither be weary of his correction, for whom the Lord loves he corrects;  even as a father the son in whom he delights:

The beginning of knowledge

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge:  but fools despise wisdom and instruction.  My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of they mother:  For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck. (Proverbs 1 7-9)
